2.)NickNack - KAZI - Austin TX - University of Texas - 5/1/2002 4:09:45 PM
That Alchemy record is hot! I was running through listening to my new stuff last night and I remember setting that one aside to play on the show. I can't recall off the top of my head all of my thoughts on it, but I know it was a black sleeve. Your comments below made me remember it....b/c I was going to say that I don't have a record called Krayola.
3.)Brotha K. - KOOP - Austin TX - 5/1/2002 4:13:24 PM
The Krayola joint is mad dope. When I think of DC go-go comes to mind
automatically. This shit is on point. Lyrics are up to par and the beats
bang. I'm not sure if I like the original or the remix of Wildest Ones.
4.)dj graf - University of Michigan - 5/1/2002 4:15:25 PM
That Krayola record is dope. I really like the 2nd and 3rd tracks more than the original tho. The wildest ones remix and aaaah are both tight.
5.)Miami - - 5/1/2002 4:17:09 PM
tHE REMIX DID WELL ON THE SHOW THIS WEEK. P[RODUCTION WAS TIGHT AND PERSONALLY, BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL. i PLAYED BOTH THE TRACK AN INSTRUMENTAL DURING MY SET. iTS A NICE RECORD.
6.)Wesley E,Urban MD/PD - WQFS - 5/1/2002 4:22:10 PM
What the deal JJ, Wesley E here from WQFS in Greensboro.
That Krayola track isn't bad at all; 'wildest ones' has some catchy liners
to it and a good underground feel to it. However, I prefer the second
track'aaahhh'; it has the reminiscent feel of a grimey rap track that has
crossover appeal to it but stay true to the underground at the same time.
The lyrics tie really well with the beat and the chorus is catchy to have
people saying it out the blue without realizing they are. I will be
pushing this single most likely my way, but if you need me to report 'wildest
ones'let me know. easy.

I'll send you more feedback soon.
Aaaah is real dope, sounds like a roots cut. Krayola comes off like Black
Thought on this one, and like Mr. Eon on wildest ones.
Wildest Ones Remix is way better than the original. Probably will never
rock the original. Gotta love the classic "When a man in Love" sample.
'MC is my ambition, what a bom, bom, bong, bong, biddley, bong, bong."

feels out of place

underground steet tracks of the year excellent reaction and is going to get

ritchy pitch time is right: average track nothing special
lyricist: another bangin' track w/ j live has he ever made anything wack??
doubt it currently getting mad air play
strict flow genuine article:cool ug track medium rotation

Sorry it took me so long...I have hardly had a moment to spare lately!
Feedback:
Krayola
"Wildest Ones": this dude definitely has flow, he reminds me of a young
supernatural on this track. the beat is solid, nothing flashy but gets the
job done. the hook is a little on the simple side, but I think that all
around this is a good track
"AAAH": This is the absolute head nodder on this one. Slammin' shit.
Played it on every show since I got it. Smoothed out beat with well penned
lyrics. Reminds me of some slum village type shit, and this is a good
thing! Do you have any more copies of this? Damn this is good....
"Wildest Ones Remix": this uses the same sample j-live used, right? Track
is decent, but it is a little light and airy when matched against the
razor-edged flow. the original beat matched the content a little better,
but this track isn't bad, it is just overshadowed by the better version
15.)DJ Kiz One - KKFI - Kansas City Missouri - 5/8/2002 3:30:48 PM
Just wanted to send you a quick note on the records that you are working. I
haven't got the J-Live or the El-P record. but I did get the Richy pitch
record and the krayola record. I will be sending my charts to you later
today but just wanted to send some feedback on these records.
Richy Pitch: First the name is hot. A take off of richie rich is real
dope.
I like the songs alot!!! Every since I have gotten the record it has been
something that I have banged every night that I do my club gig. Plus the
instrumentals are dope. Hope to hear more from this kid real soon. Plus the
movie sample for "Finding Foster" Was a dope idea. I like the way that they
added the typewriter as part of the song. GENIUS!!!
Krayloa: This is a classic. I didn't know what to expect when I put this on
at the club I was in-between records and just throw it on. The place went
wild. Had mad heads asking if they could pick it up at the record store. I belive that when this kid drops it's going to be some S**T hitting the fan.
These two artist has started to spark interest in me to do mixtapes. This
is what Hip-Hop is all about. Trying to let people know that there is more out
there than what you hear on the radio everyday Please continue to bring good artist out cause you will never have a hard time getting shine from me.
PEACE
"KIZ"
16.)Rich Lawson - KSMU - Springfield, Missouri - 5/8/2002 4:09:27 PM
Top 15, Krayola "Wildest Ones" - - Mediocre
"Aaahh"---definitely the better of the two
Richy Pitch "The Lyricist" - - I am personally feeling this. will give
much rotation
B-side, "The Time is Right". - -good response from listeners
17.)Lee L'Heureux - WRED / WMHB / Esp Media - 5/10/2002 9:01:57 AM
The record is cool to me... I like "Aaah" becasuse I've always been a fan of mellow tracks and the beat definitely works for me. The remix is kind of hot too - better than the original. I played it on my show today and some of the other DJs at the station are on the record too. It should get some nice spins here. I'd like to hear a follow up project - because I thought this record has some potential.
18.)WRGP 88.1 FM, Miami, FL - "The Late Night BBQ"- w/ Semp Rok, Ruin & DJ Omega - 5/29/2002 10:19:11 AM
The interview with ABB Recording artist 13, was POSTPONED! hmmm. haha. Its all love because we had no other than Krayola from DC who brought out some intellectual conversation and knowledge of his scene and perspective of music. The man had a lot to say other than, " Yeah", "cause you know", "Na I mean?" After this interview I had a little more appreciation towards his music since it mean something to him. Not only does he write his own lyrics and produce his own tracks, he is also a musician, which is something to appreciate. That is why he gets my #1 pick this week. Big ups to Krayola and Double J for hooking it. Wish you all the best. For more info on Krayola, go to www.theparagonsound.com.
